Garry Monk believes Sheffield Wednesday’s point against Nottingham Forest was the least his side deserved.
Forest looked to be on their way to a huge three points in their quest for a play-off place after Joe Lolley’s superbly taken 69th minute strike, only to see Connor Wickham power in a free header two minutes into added time to earn the hosts a 1-1 draw in the two side's first outing since March.
Wickham stole a march on Tobias Figueiredo on the edge of the six-yard box, sending his header beyond Brice Samba and into the net, a goal Monk felt was more than reward for the Owls’ efforts on the day.
"I thought massive parts to that game was stuff we have been working on," said the Owls chief.
"Really unfortunate not to have taken the lead, we had some big chances.

“We came fighting back and you saw that in the last 15 minutes.
“I was pleased with the reaction.
"I thought overall considering all the preparation we have done, I thought it was a good performance, there were a lot of really good things in it.
"I thought what let us down was our final third decisions, we looked rusty in decision making and our execution. We controlled the game with possession and defensively we didn't suffer.”
Wednesday could have taken the lead before Lolley’s strike, only to see Reds defender Joe Worrall produce a sublime block to thwart Kieran Lee, a piece of work former defender Monk would have been proud of himself.

"We had opportunities to take the lead - that is a one in a 100 block, you have to give the defender credit,” he said of Worrall’s intervention.
"Great character, we got our deserved goal. There was a lot of positives, the least we deserved was a point, on another day it would have been all three points."
