Today is International Women’s Day, a chance to celebrate the fantastic women who inspire us and make a difference.
It is also an opportunity to increase visibility of women and raise awareness of inequality.
To mark the occasion, we have pulled together 100 uplifting, powerful and inspirational stories of women across the UK and Ireland, from writers across our network at Reach Plc.
The 100 Women Project includes stories of NHS doctors and nurses on the frontline of Covid-19; mums fighting for their children and others to get the best start in life; and women smashing beauty stereotypes.
The list includes our own local hero Figen Murray, who has led a campaign to make venues safer following the death of her son in the Manchester Arena Attack.
There are also businesswomen, sportswomen, community leaders, cancer survivors, activists, campaigners, social media stars and a foster carer who has been mum to more than 300 children.
