'We can't stress enough how dangerous this is': Bosses slam youths caught 'bus surfing' on the back of the 464

Bosses have warned 'bus surfers' that they are risking their lives after footage emerged of youths clinging to the back of a single decker near Rochdale.

Video posted online shows the three boys climbing on to the back of the 464 service as it waits at a stop in Whitworth .

They are still  holding on as the bus picks up speed and travels down the road.

Bus operator Rosso said they quickly informed the police and are working alongside them to identify those in the images.

The footage is believed to have been taken outside the memorial gardens on Market Street.

A Rosso spokesman said: "We’re also providing support to the drivers who were involved and can’t stress enough how dangerous the actions shown in the images are."

Whitworth councillor Alan Neal said: "The parents would all complain if one of these individuals was injured or killed.

"The police do what they can with the resources they have got but we all have a responsibility to say ‘Excuse me, don’t do that.’

"We do need to challenge young people.

"If we don’t make a start now then it will get a whole lot worse."

Lancashire Police have been contacted for comment.
