'We can’t get upset' - Callum Roberts insists Notts County players must be prepared for squad rotation

Callum Roberts insists Notts County’s players must not “get upset” with Neal Ardley’s squad rotation as they look to seal a National League playoff place.

The Magpies are back in action again on Tuesday night when they tackle Aldershot at Meadow Lane where  they will look to secure a fourth successive win.

After Saturday’s superb victory at league leaders Barrow, Ardley said afterwards he is likely to make more changes to cope with a hectic run of fixtures.

He dropped top scorer Kyle Wootton for the trip to Holker Street and also left  Dutch winger Enzio Boldewijn on the bench.

Roberts was also among the substitutes at Barrow, but having come on to score his first goal for the club, the winger  says managing the squad will be key.

“It’s just about rotating,” he said.

“The gaffer left some of us out for the game at the weekend, but we can’t get upset about it.

“We’ve just got to go again for the next game.

“It’s coming around quick and there will be plenty of games for everyone to play.”

Notts could move third in the table with a win  over the Shots tomorrow night with Notts eager to make amends for their 2-1 defeat earlier in the season.

And former Newcastle winger believes Notts’ victory at Barrow has given them great motivation.

“Any three points can ignite a season, but when it’s against the league leaders it feels that bit more special,” he said.

“We’ve just got to take that into Tuesday now.”
