A woman on TikTok has a PSA for “beautiful girls” ordering DoorDash: “If you are a beautiful girl… get tints and don’t use your real name on DoorDash.”
In a video with over 37,000 views, TikTok user Shamari (@shamarixx) explained how she accidentally ended up in a scary situation with a DoorDash driver.
“Tell me why I [ordered] Hawaiian food yesterday, and I was upset. I get home, and my DoorDash driver followed me on Instagram,” she said in her clip.
The driver most likely looked up her real name on social media to try to reach out, connect, and possibly ask her out. The scary part of the encounter? By that point, the driver knew her real address, name, and other aspects of her identity. This could lead to real-life stalking and harassment.

Commenters quickly shared similar stories, expressing that this wasn’t an uncommon experience.
@Indiii wrote, “I had a DoorDash driver literally try to enter my house! Like full on trying to enter my house! The only thing that was stopping him was my dog barking and growling at him. This was in 2022 and I’ve never used that app since.”
@Deja Harris explained, “This is why I do DoorDash or Uber or any of those food ordering apps. I go get my food myself because you can’t trust [anybody]. Safety is important.”
Real-life incidents with DoorDash drivers
While it may seem like a simple encounter, countless women have had terrifying experiences after ordering food from apps like DoorDash. In one incident, a 53-year-old man showed up at a victim’s home unannounced. They called her multiple times, texted repeatedly, and threatened her.
Other people have reported similar incidents on social media platforms like Reddit. Some service workers have experienced similar encounters despite DoorDash having specific policies against harassment.
One user wrote, “I asked [the DoorDash Driver] why he was at my work this late and he said he had been driving all day and wanted to wait for me to get off so he could see me. I’m now scared to walk to my car alone and worried that he isn’t the sweet old man I thought he was.”
