'We can do better than this' - Bristol City fans disappointed with 17-goal striker transfer speculation

Several Bristol City fans have reacted with bemusement to the news their side could be chasing a 17-goal League One striker.

The Robins have reportedly reignited their interest in Barnsley's towering front man Kieffer Moore - a man they targeted back in January.

The Sun on Sunday's gossip guru Alan Nixon reckons the Robins are prepared to offer Barnsley £2m for the 26-year-old, who scored 19 goals in all competitions last season and helped the Tykes to promotion back to the Championship .

However, the news of a potential new striker has not been well received, with the majority of City fans seemingly sceptical of whether Moore would be able to make the step up and be a consistent goalscorer in the second tier.

If he were to join, it is not clear whether he would be a back-up or a replacement for Famara Diedhiou, with the pair possessing a similar playing style.

On Facebook, Max Schindler commented: "Not convinced he'd be an upgrade at all. More likely a downgrade on Diedhiou."

Darren Boddy wrote: "No, no, no. How many times does a striker step up? Dele Ali maybe and we won't mention the Rovers man.

"How many times have we bought the top scorers in League One. Lots. Maynard Trundle ect. Need to push on if want the Premier League."

Neil Skuse added: "Another non-proven Championship striker how many more do they want.

"Asambolonga is the standard required at the very least. Promotion push we require quality."

Moore played for Yeovil in the Championship back in 2013 but struggled, scoring five times in 24 appearances as the Glovers were relegated back to League One.

'Crazy to think I wouldn't want him' - What managers have said about Kieffer Moore as Barnsley striker is linked to Bristol City again

After a spell in the footballing wilderness - including a stint at Norwegian club Viking - the striker returned to the Championship with Ipswich, but he would toil there again.

He enjoyed a prolific loan spell on loan at Rotherham during the first half of 2017/18 scoring 13 goals in 22 matches before being signed on a permanent basis by Barnsley in January 2018. However, four goals in 20 appearances for the Tykes was not enough to prevent their relegation.
