We Buy Any Car do not accept these two types of vehicle as dad 'loses 33k'

We Buy Any Car will not accept two types of vehicle, which has led to one driver 'losing £33,000' after it refused to buy his car.

The car buying service will not purchase vehicles that are either registered outside of the British Mainland, or those that are being sold by motor traders.

As reported by MyLondon, the dad was due to be paid £33,097.25 for the sale of his Mercedes Benz but the transaction was cancelled.

He received an email from We Buy Any Car that informed him the purchase was cancelled because they believed him to be a car dealer.

The service said: "It is company policy to not purchase vehicles from the motor trade."

Drivers looking to get cash for their car should also be aware of We Buy Any Car's policy surrounding vehicles that are not registered within the UK.

It said: "At present, we only buy cars registered in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland."

While We Buy Any Car is a little quiet on the cars it does not buy, on its website it is happy to chat about the cars it happily will purchase.

If you have outstanding finance on the car, it can be bought by the firm.

We Buy Any Car says: "We can arrange settlement of any outstanding finance on your car.

"For us to do this we will need you to provide an in date letter from your finance company, detailing the current settlement figure and your agreement reference number.

"The settlement amount will be deducted from the amount paid to you for your car."

It also warns: "If you owe more on your finance than the value of the car, we will still be happy to buy the car, but you will need to pay us the shortfall by debit/credit card when we purchase your car."

We Buy Any Car also buys cars with private registrations, and SORN or non-runners too.

But it adds: "Please note we are unable to offer a collection service so you'll need to make your own arrangements to get the car to your nearest drop-off point. Local transport agents in your area are usually able to assist."

The service also buys cars which are damaged or in need of repairs.

And you can even sell a car on behalf of family members of friends - with certain documentation in tow.

If it has less than six months MOT or no MOT, the car can also be purhcased.

And imported cars can be bought - as long as they are registered in the UK.

"Grey" import (i.e. purchased outside the EU) will need a manual valuation.
