We asked people in the Primark queue what they wanted so desperately to buy

Hundreds of people have spent the morning queuing in the cold to get into Primark stores across Wales.

Other stores have been busy as non-essential shops re-open for the first time in 2021, thanks to an easing of coronavirus restrictions.

Some queued from before 6am and others have waited in line for up to an hour to start shopping at their favourite budget store. Live updates as stores re-open.

But what is the big attraction and what do people in the queue desperately want to buy?

Here is what they told us:

Tiff Davies, 20, Hengoed

(Rob Browne)

"I have got a long list, pyjamas, socks, bags, shoes. I have been busy planning my trip. I have seen pastel heels and saw them on sale in America, and they look really good. I was expecting a queue, but not this long. It does seem to be quick."

Hubert, who is originally from Poland, said: "I am looking for something possibly denim, and something for the spring. I have also come as moral support for my friends."

"I have missed shopping. You can do it online but it is just not the same."

Mum Kathrine, from Porthcawl, said she has just come as a "chaperone".

"I don't like shopping online. We have a three-week-old grandchild so will be looking for baby clothes."

"New pants are top of the shopping list," she laughed. "Might also look for some make up brushes. I have been doing some shopping online but there never seems to be anything in stock. It is nice to get out, but you still have to be wary."

Trudy Birch, 28 and Hollie Corten 33, from Newport

(Richard Williams)

Hollie said: "Knickers, socks, bras, and then any bargains I can find. I have had trouble online shopping as they send the wrong sizes and you have to send stuff back. I have been up since 6.15am as I can't wait to get in the store."

Trudy agreed that she was looking forward to getting into the store.
