'We aren't safe yet' - Newcastle United fans react to dismal defeat at Crystal Palace

It was another thoroughly miserable outing in the capital for Newcastle United as they sank with a whimper at Crystal Palace.

Patrick Van Aanholt's first-half free kick was enough to settle a poor contest at Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon, with Valentino Lazaro dismissed in added time for bringing down Wilfried Zaha.

In truth, it should have been worse for the Magpies with Christian Benteke and Jordan Ayew both guilty of spurning good openings for Roy Hodgson's side.

Apart from the enforced change of Fabian Schar for the injured Ciaran Clark, Steve Bruce gave his side the chance to redeem themselves following their collapse at Arsenal.

However, United never came close to finding a goal and have been leapfrogged by Palace as a result of the defeat.

The disappointing display inevitably drew the ire of supporters on social media - here's how Newcastle United fans reacted to another inept display from the Magpies in London:

'Totally clueless'

'Cashed in all our luck'

'Need to change'

'Worst team to watch'

'Papers fell off the cracks'

'We aren't safe yet'

'Really really boring'

'Luck has eventually run out'

'Change formation'

'Pray we survive the drop'
