'We are putting health at risk' Dr Hilary warns of second coronavirus spike as UK flights prepare to resume

Dr Hilary Jones has warned of a second coronavirus spike in the UK as flights in the UK prepare to resume.

ITV's resident health expert spoke to Good Morning Britain hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid this morning about the lack of social distancing on board flights and the dangers of air travel amid a global pandemic.

Both Piers and Dr Hilary slammed the imminent restarting of flights due to the serious health risks, Birmingham Live reports.

Dr Hilary admitted: "I just think that the air travel situation is running big risks.

"People sitting closely together in close proximity, breathing the same air, masks or not, tests or not, screening with temperatures really not very effective."

Piers then asked: "Would you fly right now?"

Dr Hilary responded, in a stark warning to viewers: "No. Absolutely not."

"Air travel is what makes a pandemic global," Dr Hilary said.

"I think by kowtowing to the economic needs of the aviation industry we are putting health at risk.

"We are running risks of a second spike [of coronavirus] here in the UK and elsewhere."

Good Morning Britain will run from Monday morning to Friday morning this week, but Piers will only be on air for the first three episodes.
