'We are not there' - Pep Guardiola makes Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane claim over Liverpool advantage

Pep Guardiola has outlined a possible advantage Liverpool have over his Manchester City side.

The Reds are battling with Man City and Chelsea for the Premier League title this season, with the trio so far setting the pace at the top of the standings.

Chelsea are currently top with 30 points, while Man City are one point adrift in second and Liverpool are another point further back in third.

Despite not being top of the league, Jurgen Klopp’s side are top of the goalscoring charts with 39 in the top flight this term, comfortably more than second-top scorers Chelsea who have 31.

Liverpool are also leading the way when it comes to individual scorers, with three out of the top four places occupied by Reds forwards.

Mohamed Salah leads the way with 11 strikes, and is then followed by Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy.

Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane each have seven goals wach to occupy third and fourth spot, and it’s the variety of goalscorers which Guardiola thinks Liverpool have a possible advantage.

Speaking in his latest press conference, the Manchester City boss has been speaking about whether having a variety of goalscorers is crucial for his team achieving success.

"If we don't do it, we wouldn't qualify for the Champions League," said Guardiola.

"In the top leagues, the scorers, we are not there. (Mohamed) Salah, (Sadio) Mane; we are not in the top seven or eight (goalscorers).

“If we don't attack as a team, we don't survive.

"The league we have done so far is exceptional. The way we are playing is exceptional.

“The toughest month of the season is ahead of us, we have a good team."
