Donald Trump’s revamped presidential wall of fame is making the rounds online, and once again proving that the former president never misses an opportunity for petty theatrics. What was meant to look like a dignified tribute to U.S. presidents has instead turned into a joke, but the internet has fixed the wall just right.
The official White House account run by the special assistant to the President and communications advisor, Margo Martin, posted the fresh look of the presidential wall on X. The wall is supposed to feature portraits of all U.S. presidents as a tribute, where Trump has now gotten two spots. But the detail that truly set the internet ablaze was the space meant for Joe Biden: instead of a portrait, Trump opted to hang an autopen. “This petty White House vandalism just exposes Trump’s fragile ego,” one user wrote on the post.
Several other users expressed their disappointment with such a backhanded post by an official White House account, reminding the Trump aide, “you are accountable to the whole country, not just the 23% who voted for Trump.” He continued, “The People’s House should not be a vehicle for your 5th-grade-level sense of humor.” Another jabbed at how this shows “petty insecurity” on the part of Trump: “This type of sh*t makes Trump look so weak and small.”
However, what really served as the perfect reply to the post were people’s own versions of the wall that “fixed” Trump’s ego-boosting stunt. One user brilliantly replaced Trump’s two portraits with his infamous birthday letter to Jeffrey Epstein and his picture with the sex offender. Another added the man-child’s picture with Sean Combs (P. Diddy) into the mix, writing, “there, fixed it.”
The redesigned versions of the wall infuriated a few, while others pointed out it’s essentially the same game Trump is playing by featuring an autopen in place of Biden. “Is this more of that ‘civility’ I keep hearing about?” one user asked. But expecting civility from Trump has long been a fool’s errand. His latest petty maneuver is just another attempt to score cheap points against Democrats, and the public knows it. Summing up the farce in one devastating line, a user quipped: “We are not a serious country.”
