We are “Nat Moore” days away from Miami Dolphins football

Here’s the good news — we are close enough to the countdown to Dolphins football that the transition has been made from defensive linemen to wide receivers/pass catchers. That is a great landmark for us to have surpassed, my fellow Dolphins faithful.

Here’s the bad news. Nat Moore wore number 89, so we are still 89 days away from the kickoff of the Miami Dolphins’ 2019 season against the Baltimore Ravens. But if there was ever a silver lining, today is still a day worth celebrating. Why? Because we get to celebrate the career of an all-time Dolphin great, Nat Moore.

Moore was drafted in 1974 by the Miami Dolphins as a 3rd-round selection from the University of Florida. Over his 13 year playing career, Moore would go on to record 510 receptions for 7546 receiving yards and 74 touchdowns — he ranks in the top three in Dolphins history in each of those three categories. His company in each category? The Marks Brothers (Duper and Clayton). Not bad company to be in.

These days, Moore is still a prevalent personality and difference maker in South Florida — he just hosted his annual golf charity this spring with the hope of helping underprivileged youth receive a better education.
