'We are living a dream!' Lucas Moura's father opens up on his reaction to Tottenham heroics

Lucas Moura’s father has revealed how he reacted to his son’s match-winning hat-trick for Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side looked set for a heartbreaking exit at the hands of Ajax, trailing 3-0 on aggregate at half-time in the second-leg, but a frantic final 45 minutes turned the tie on its head.

Lucas Moura’s hat-trick, with the final goal coming in the dying minutes, sent Spurs into the Champions League final on away goals, sparking scenes of jubilation in Amsterdam that also saw Pochettino reduced to tears.

Similar scenes also took place in South America, Lucas’ father Jorge Rodrigues has revealed, after a night to remember for the Lilywhites.

“There were still a few seconds to finish. I shouted, ‘the game is not over yet!’ But the people did not hear me. At the time he scored the third, they jumped in the pool with clothes and everything,” he told Globo Esporte.

Spurs & Liverpool fans join forces to issue strong statement ahead of the Champions League final

He also spoke about his contact with Lucas after the match, adding that the family will be in attendance for the clash against Liverpool on June 1st.

“It was by video, he was on the plane. We cried a lot. He kept staring at us, watching us cry, not believing what happened. We are all living a dream and we have not woken up to reality yet.

Why Arsenal and Tottenham could play a north London derby in Istanbul next season

“We didn’t go to the semi final, but now we are going to Madrid. We are all anxious and very happy. He has bounced back, deserves a lot. We are living a dream.”
