We are “Keith Sims” days away from Miami Dolphins football

The countdown to Miami Dolphins football has dipped beneath ten weeks away — we are now sixty nine days from Miami’s showdown with the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1. To mark the occasion, we’re celebrating the greatest player to don the number ’69’ in Miami Dolphins franchise history — former offensive lineman Keith Sims.

Younger Dolphins fans will recognize Sims for his contributions on the Miami Dolphins Radio Network — he does sideline reporting along with former Dolphins players Bob Griese, Jimmy Cefalo and Joe Rose. But Sims’ legacy with the Dolphins will always fall back onto his eight year run with the Dolphins as one of the team’s best offensive linemen — alongside left tackle Richmond Webb.

Sims played for the Dolphins from 1990 to 1997, being named to three Pro Bowls along the way after being a 2nd-round selection by the Dolphins in 1990. The Dolphins offensive line had some incredible efforts during the mid-1990s to keep quarterback Dan Marino upright — in Sims’ rookie season the Dolphins allowed just 15 sacks of Marino in 18 games. Four of Sims’ eight seasons with Miami resulted in 20 or less sacks of Marino — not including Marino’s injury-shortened season in 1993.

Sims, along with the rest of the Miami Dolphins Radio Network crew, will be back in action before you know it — just like the Miami Dolphins.
