We are “Jim Langer” days away from Miami Dolphins football

We have moved to 62 days remaining between us and the start of the Miami Dolphins’ 2019 regular season opener against the Baltimore Ravens. To mark the occasion, today we celebrate the greatest #62 in Dolphins history — Hall of Fame offensive lineman Jim Langer.

Langer played a decade with the Dolphins (1970-1979), starting for eight straight seasons with Miami. What an incredible journey he experienced — coming out of college, Langer was a linebacker. But after a brief stint in Cleveland, the Dolphins scooped Langer up and groomed him to play along the offensive line. Langer made his debut as a starter at the beginning of the 1972 season and went on to man the middle of a two consecutive championship teams.

Along the way, Langer allocated six total All-Pro honors (three 1st-team designations and 3 2nd-team designations) with Miami before finishing his career with two seasons in Minnesota.

Langer would retire in early 1982 and be elected to the Pro Football Fame in 1987 — his first year of eligiblity. Only Jason Taylor, Dan Marino and Paul Warfield join Langer as inducted Dolphins to accomplish first ballot status into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
