'We are done' - Newcastle United fans react to huge double injury blow

Newcastle United fans have mixed feelings after the club were dealt a double injury blow amid the ongoing battle to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Having picked up knocks during the draw against Wolves, Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron have been ruled out until next month - with the Magpies facing a crucial run of fixtures.

Steve Bruce's side, who remain three points clear of the drop zone with 12 games remaining this season, are due to meet second-bottom West Brom, Aston Villa and Brighton throughout the course of this month.

But with an international break to follow ahead of early April fixtures against Spurs and Burnley, both Saint-Maximin (groin) and Almiron (knee) might not miss as much action as anticipated.

Elsewhere on the injury front, an official announcement from Newcastle's social media revealed that Emil Krafth will return to training this week - but it's the double injury blow that has got Magpies' supporters talking online;

@jackb18_ said: "Haha, what a start to the day. Well done on safety, Fulham."

@ellisjameswarre posted: "Even with them I think we are done, proved it on Saturday. How many chances did Almiron and ASM waste? They both don't score or create enough."

@JoeRPatterson added: "Can someone please tell me how many games ASM has been able to play in a row for us without getting injured? I love him, but having him in the starting 11 feels like a golden ticket."

@Dodds1986 said: "Fraser for Almiron is a better switch in my eyes. Fraser is a better all-round player. We will be fine. Just play Murphy/Gayle for ASM. I have faith. We will survive."

@KierenW6 posted: "People are over-reacting. Wilson will hopefully be back soon and we have an international break, so we can hopefully get Miggy (Almiron) and Saint back for Burnley."

@Thomas67991966 added: "How do we end up with three of our best players and our only attacking players out for months when we literally need everyone fit just to nick a win?"

@ProducerScott said: "The shorter tweet would have been; "Newcastle confirm Championship status with latest injuries..."

@DanMcmahonF1 posted: "As great as ASM can be, we can't just rely on him. It's just been constant and he needs a solid pre-season behind him to come back stronger."

@jgraham4488 added: "Genuinely think playing Willock further forward, Fraser in for Saint-Maximin and Gayle up front is not too bad of a replacement. But knowing Bruce he’ll use Ritchie and Murphy."
