We applied for ITV's Lingo as the gameshow searches for new contestants - here's how it went

Bosses at ITV are searching for power duos to take part in the newest series of quiz show Lingo - and they are looking closely at Glasgow for their participant search.

The broadcasting channel has posted an advertisement to various Scottish Facebook community pages, writing: "Lingo is back for a new series! We are looking for fun and energetic teams of two to apply!

"Please apply ASAP by sending us an email here, scanning the QR code or clicking the link here. Please apply ASAP by sending us an email here, scanning the QR code or clicking the link here."

So, over here at Glasgow Live, we decided why not? Here is what happened when we applied for ITV's Lingo.

What happened when we applied for Lingo

Stage One

To begin with, the application is fairly simple. All you had to do was type in your name, number, email and click submit and boom, you were through.

Then, you receive a verification code via text to allow sign-up to be completed. Next up is the slightly harder portion of the process.

Stage Two

Next up is the detailed application for both participants for the show - you cannot apply solo, only as a couple. You have to state the relationship to the person who is also applying, your occupation, relationship status and so on.

You are then asked the usual details, such as disability awareness for filming, criminal history and if you have ever appeared on a television programme before.

This is completed twice by each participant. You are then asked for your social media handles, and this is when it gets slightly harder once again.

Stage Three

You are then asked to upload an introductory video of yourself, within the following criteria:

  • You can film this video on your smartphone, tablet or computer and then directly upload it here
  • Make sure we can see you both clearly within the frame of the video
  • Film in landscape mode, not portrait
  • When filming the video refrain from reading off a piece of paper. We want you to be yourself, your answers to be natural and most importantly, for you to have fun to get a sense of your confident, competitive, outgoing personalities, and the rapport between you both!

The questions you need to answer include:

  1. Introduce yourselves and tell us about how you met
  2. Why do you think you would make a good team when it comes to solving word puzzles
  3. Which of you is the most competitive and why?

Then comes stage four for applicant A.

Stage Four

You are then asked to fill out a variety of written questions, which include:

1. Tell us why you think you would be perfect for LINGO

2. Tell us something surprising about you

3. What would you spend your prize money on? (for instance, what would make a real difference to you and your life right now?

4. Do you have any special skills?

5. Please list your greatest achievements

6. Describe your teammate in three words and tell us what their most annoying habit is

Stage Five

Then comes the filming dates. You are asked to submit all the dates you may be available for filming, and these are:

  • Tuesday, September 6 2022
  • Wednesday, September 7 2022
  • Thursday, September 8, 2022
  • Friday, September 9 2022
  • Sunday, September 11 2022
  • Monday, September 12 2022
  • Tuesday, September 13 2022
  • Wednesday, September 14 2022
  • Thursday, September 15 2022
  • Monday, September 19 2022
  • Tuesday, September 20 2022
  • Wednesday, September 21 2022
  • Thursday, September 22 2022

You then submit one photo of the pair of you who are applying, and voila, your Lingo application is complete.

Overall, this was a detailed yet easy to fill in application, and we hope they get back to us. After all, these shows always look easier to participate in on the TV, don't they?
