We applied for Channel 4's Married at First Sight to see if we'd find true love

Married at First Sight has been a hit ever since it first aired on Channel 4 in 2015, with the show garnering multiple spin-offs in the likes of Australia and the United States.

Based on the Danish series of the same name, 'Married at First Sight' is a reality series that matches couples based on scientific and sociological factors.

A team of experts with backgrounds in psychology, psychotherapy, anthropology and theology fuse their professional knowledge to create matches for successful relationships.

Six consenting participants are selected from over 200 applicants looking for long-term love. The chosen couples agree to get married with no knowledge about their suitor.

Meeting for the first time at the altar, each pair is filmed for a period of six weeks after saying "I do". When the time is up, the married couple must choose whether they will stay together or go their separate ways.

So, what is it like to apply for Married at First Sight? We have all the details below:

What questions are you asked to apply?

Well, in short, very few questions are asked of you in the initial stages of Married at First Sight UK.

On the website, it reads: "In this unique relationship series about married life, a panel of matchmaking experts will be there to help you find the one."

You are then asked to provide your name, age, and number you need to be contacted on to an email address, where they would get back to you if you are TV material.

What are the credentials for applying?

All you need to apply is to be aged 18 or over, and have an open mind when it comes to applying for this programme.

It is in the T&C's that the producers cannot get back to everyone as there are such a high volume of applications, so fingers crossed for TV & and Showbiz Writer Abbie Meehan - let's hope they get back to her!

Where can I apply?

You can apply on the Married at First Sight UK website here.

Married at First Sight UK airs on Channel 4, typically debuting on Monday's at 7:30pm.

The episodes then run on Tuesday's, Wednesday's and Thursday's at the same time each evening.
