We all should be afraid of what Trump is trying to do to Seth Meyers

It appears that the lesson was not learned with Jimmy Kimmel, but that’s hardly a surprise. Now, Seth Meyers is in the crosshairs of President Donald Trump and the FCC.

Brendan Carr, the chairman of the FCC, reshared Trump’s recent demand on Truth Social that Meyers be fired from NBC, according to a post from Variety on X:

“Trump posted on Truth Social on Saturday, ‘NBC’s Seth Meyers is suffering from an incurable case of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS). He was viewed last night in an uncontrollable rage, likely due to the fact that his ‘show’ is a Ratings DISASTER. Aside from everything else, Meyers has no talent, and NBC should fire him, IMMEDIATELY!'”

Recently, Trump has been the subject of many of Meyers’s monologues, with the host bringing up the government shutdown, the ongoing controversy over the Jeffrey Epstein files, and his policies, to name a few.

Back in September, Jimmy Kimmel Live! was pulled from air amidst backlash over comments Kimmel made on the show regarding Charlie Kirk’s death. On September 17, Carr got on Benny Johnson’s podcast and called for Kimmel to retract his words or face consequences. When Kimmel did not apologize, Nexstar and Sinclair, two major broadcasting stations, pulled Jimmy Kimmel Live! from airing, indefinitely suspending Kimmel’s show.

Though the show returned on September 23 after a short-lived absence, it proved that the very foundations of our country’s principles are becoming hardly more than decorative columns rather than the load-bearing ones they were created to be.

It sets a dangerous precedent, not only for Carr to urge Kimmel’s cancelation but to then quietly support another cancelation. Historically, late-night shows are known for poking fun at politics. It’s a pastime as American as baseball. However, we seem to have lost that in the last few years.

If you haven’t already had a red flag waving, you should now. Regardless of what happens with Late Night With Seth Meyers, it is clear that Trump and his supporters are still as vocal as ever. And that should concern you.
