Trent Alexander-Arnold says Liverpool didn't focus on Steven Gerrard's Anfield return before the 1-0 win over Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds legend faced his former club for the first time in the opposition dugout but it was a disappointing afternoon for Gerrard as his side succumbed to a defeat.
Gerrard's return was a major talking point ahead of the game, but less so among the squad as the Liverpool right-back insisted the three points were 'more important any any feelings'.
When asked by pundit and former Red Michael Owen whether Gerrard's homecoming made it difficult to focus, Alexander-Arnold told Premier League Productions: "For us as players I don't think it changed anything for us.

"I think for fans it might have been sentimental for them, even for him [Gerrard] potentially.
"You know, we've been in this game a long time, we're all professionals. We have a job to do. Essentially the three points are more important than any of our feelings so that comes first. The team comes first.
"We were focused on getting the three points, to be honest. That never changed. We never really spoke about it {Gerrard}, we never focused on it at all.
"I think in the back of our minds we all knew he was going to get a good reception but it didn't change anything for us."
Mohamed Salah's 67th minute penalty proved to be the difference between the two sides after the Egyptian was deemed to have been fouled in the box by Tyrone Mings.
The visitors had a penalty claim of their own late on after a mistake from Alisson but referee Stuart Attwell waved play on and the Reds clung on to all three points.
