WB Butchers goes into liquidation after nearly 50 years

A Bristol butcher is being voluntarily wound up by a liquidation company after nearly 50 years.

WB Butchers, in Shirehampton in the city, appointed business rescue and recovery specialists Leonard Curtis as liquidators today (Friday, August 23).

Steve Markey and Stuart Robb of Leonard Curtis have been appointed to oversee the insolvency process, which was announced on public records site The Gazette.

The business, which was incorporated in 1972, according to Companies House, is described as a retailer of meat and meat products in specialised stores.

A statement on The Gazette website reads: "Notice is hereby given that the following resolutions were passed on 12 August 2019, as a special resolution and an ordinary resolution respectively.

"That the Company be and is hereby wound up voluntarily and that Steve Markey and Stuart Robb both of Leonard Curtis, Leonard Curtis House, Elms Square, Bury New Road, Whitefield, Manchester, M45 7TA be and are hereby appointed as Joint Liquidators of the Company for the purposes of the winding up of the Company and the Liquidators are authorised to act jointly and severally."

The director of WB Butchers is listed on Companies House as Anthony Patrick Webb, while MS Bath Secretaries Limited is named as the company's secretary.

It is not known if any jobs have been lost.

The liquidators have not yet responded to requests for comment.
