Wayne Routledge just paid a touching tribute to much-loved former Swansea City kitman Nick Eames

Swansea City winger Wayne Routledge has paid a touching tribute to former kitman Nick Eames, who sadly passed away this week.

Routledge wheeled away after handing his side the the lead in their FA Cup third round clash with Stevenage at the Lamex Stadium, before producing a shirt printed with a special tribute to Eames, who worked in the club's kit department, alongside wife Sue and son Michael.

The message on the shirt read: "RIP Nick. Always in our hearts."

It's just the latest message of support to come in this week, with Freddie Woodman, George Byers, Ben Wilmot, Bafetimbi Gomis, Mike van der Hoorn, Tom Carroll and Liam Cullen, among others, also sending their best wishes to the Eames family on the back of the tragic news.

Keri Rodon, father of former Swans centre-back Joe, also offered his support on social media.

Former Swans player Shaun MacDonald wrote: "I’m so sorry mate, he was one of the best. Big love to you all."

Eames' son Michael posted a tribute on his own Instagram page, which read: "We will love you forever Dad. The greatest ever. Gonna miss you Big man."

In a statement, Swansea said: "Everyone at Swansea City would like to send their deepest condolences to the Eames family following the passing of Nick Eames. Nick formerly worked at the club within the kit department alongside his wife Sue and their son Mike. Rest in peace, Nick."
