Wayne Rooney's son Kai to be offered place in Man City academy upon UK return

Manchester City are set to offer Wayne Rooney's eldest son the chance to rejoin the club's academy following the former England captain's return to England.

City snapped up nine-year-old Kai Rooney from under the noses of arch-rivals Manchester United in 2016 when his dad was at Old Trafford.

And when Rooney moved from Everton to play for DC United in the MLS in the summer of 2018 they told the youngster that they would look to take him back into the City Football Group when the family came back from the United States.

He will start playing for the Rams in January after his spell in Washington came to an end with a 5-1 extra-time defeat at the hands of Toronto in the MLS play-offs.

Young Kai has proved himself to be a talented tennis player during the Rooneys' time in the States.

But City rated the youngster highly during his time in Sky Blue.

And with the Rooney's living back in Cheshire with wife Coleen and their four sons, the Premier League champions will look to bringing Kai back into their academy fold.
