Wayne Rooney ribbed after mispelling 'birthday' for son Kai's 7th

Wayne Rooney is currently enduring one of his patchier spells of form, failing to reach the goalscoring heights of his early career. Now it seems his poor form may also be encroaching on his ability to spell.

The 31-year-old footballer, who has is captain of both Manchester United and the England national team, has posted a photo with the words Birthday spelled wrong in celebration of his son Kai’s birthday.

The image showed his oldest son Kai celebrating his 7th birthday while hugging his middle child Klay. Next to the children was a light box which read “Happy Birhtday Kai”.

Observant onlookers immediately spotted the spelling error. With one even dubbing him a “plum”.

“You plum you spelt it wrong,” they wrote on Instagram.

“Nice spelling of birthday,” chipped in another sarcastically. “It’s birthday not brithday,” said one more.

“Anyone else noticed birthday is spelt wrong”.

“It's birthday not birhtday sir.”

Nevertheless, many others were either non-plussed or failed to notice the error and simply wished Kai happy birthday.
