Wayne Rooney 'losing millions to save marriage to Coleen' with move back to UK

Wayne Rooney's move back to the UK 'has been driven by his desire to save his marriage', according to reports.

The 33-year-old former England captain will reportedly 'lose millions' by returning to become the player-coach for Derby County.

Wayne has decided to call time on his American adventure, where he captained DC United in Washington, and the decision is said to have left Coleen "ecstatic".

Coleen has already returned to the UK with their sons Kai, nine, six-year-old Klay, Kit, three, and 15-month-old Cass and they will start school this side of the Atlantic, in September.

The Rooneys are expected to move into their £20million home in Cheshire, as soon as it has been completed.

Sources close to the family have indicated that Coleen was hoping to return to the UK, despite it meaning a huge drop in income, as she had felt 'alienated' in the States.

The source told The Sun Online that Coleen insisted that Wayne "put her and the children first."

For his part, Wayne believes the cut in wages is "worth it to make her happy."

Coleen is reportedly "settling the boys back in the UK permanently and has started the process of moving their belongings back."

Wayne will not be returning to the UK on a permanent basis until January, as he will finish the MLS season with DC United.

The new role of player-coach is 'well-suited' to Wayne according to the source, with Coleen apparently thinking "coaching could be the making of Wayne."

Coleen has allegedly told him "it’s time to grow up," and feels he can act as a "role model to younger players."

Mirror Online has contacted Wayne and Coleen's reps for comment.
