Wayne Rooney 'buys Coleen a £5 million villa in Portugal' in a bid to win her back

Wayne Rooney has reportedly bought Coleen a £5million villa in Portugal in a bid to win her back following his drink-driving scandal.

Everton Striker Wayne hit the headlines when he was caught over the legal limit behind the wheel of 'party girl' Laura Simpson's car earlier this month.

A source has now revealed to Closer magazine that the shamed 31-year-old footballer is doing whatever it takes to regain his wife's trust - even buying her a luxury pad abroad.

The insider said: "Coleen wishes she could forget about the past - but she knows from experience [...] that the latest incident will be constantly dredged up.

"Wayne is begging her every day to give him another chance and has bought the family a new home in Portugal, but right now Coleen doesn't feel ready to discuss the future," the source added.

Mum-of-three Coleen, who has reportedly enjoyed ten holidays already this year, was in Majorca when she heard news of Wayne being pulled over by police in the early hours of September 1.

The latest alleged 'fight to save their marriage,' comes after Coleen, who is pregnant with the couple's fourth child, reportedly told Wayne she wanted him to end his nights out with former teammate Wes Brown - believing he is a bad influence.

Rooney is believed to have been with Brown, who he played with during his time at Manchester United, on the night of his arrest in the early hours of September 1.

And the Sun reports Coleen has issued an ultimatum to the striker, demanding he ends the nights out with his former teammate.

Brown was also present when Rooney reportedly lost £500,000 at a casino in May.

Coleen, 31, has also reportedly told her husband he must stop gambling if they are to stay together.

It is suggested his betting 'gets out of controlling' when out with his former teammate - claiming the ex-Sunderland defender 'leads Rooney astray'.

Mirror Online has contacted representatives for the couple for comment.

Last week Wayne pleaded guilty to being nearly three times the legal alcohol limit and was banned from the roads for two years.

He was also told to complete a 12-month community order and ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work under the Community Payback scheme.

In a statement England's record goalscorer said: "Following today's court hearing I want publicly to apologise for my unforgivable lack of judgement in driving while over the legal limit. It was completely wrong."

The court at Wayne's trial heard that his two-year driving ban will be reduced by 24 weeks if he completes a specialist driving court by February 2, 2019.

It also heard that Everton will fine Rooney, who earns in the region of £160,000 a week, two weeks' salary - or about £320,000.

Speculation that their marriage is in trouble has been rife following the scandal.

Coleen has been pictured without her wedding and didn't attend Wayne's court appearance or his big match against former team Manchester United.

However, she was spotted running errands with a family picture of her three boys with Wayne as her screen saver background.
