Former Chelsea left-back Wayne Bridge has hailed the performances both Thiago Silva and Mason Mount have produced this season.
In what has been a strange season for the Blues in terms of patters of form, with the club having benefited massively from head coach Thomas Tuchel's arrival towards the end of January, Silva and Mount have been nothing short of outstanding.
Silva joined the Blues as one of seven new recruits last summer, signing on a free transfer following his exit from French giants Paris Saint-Germain, and has significantly bolstered their defensive-line, producing a string of commanding performances.
Mount, on the other hand, has continued to go from strength-to-strength this term, particularly since Tuchel took charge.
Since the German succeeded Frank Lampard, Mount has been in fine form, scoring six goals in 22 games, as well as registering two assists.
With the qualities he has demonstrated, Bridge believes he proven his doubters wrong.
"Mason Mount stands out massively for me. Frank Lampard spoke very highly of him," Bridge told bettingexpert.com.
"He looks so comfortable on the ball and impresses me in every game he plays with the way he goes past players and is always looking for the ball and a bit of space. He’s always trying to create something and has always been the most consistent performer.
"I was absolutely shocked when Tuchel first came in and Mount didn’t play in one of the games. He’s proved a lot of doubters wrong and I think him and Phil Foden have both impressed me loads.
"They’re going to be two massive players not only for England but they could be world stars and the best players in the world.
"At Chelsea, Thiago Silva has been massive for the players around him. He’s got so much experience and helps the defenders around him, like Rudiger and Christensen. He has been a great addition to the squad and well done to Lampard for getting him in."
Both Mount and Silva played instrumental roles in helping Chelsea get the better of Real Madrid last week in the second-leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final, as Silva played a key role in helping Tuchel's charges keep a clean sheet, whilst Mount netted the goal that wrapped up the tie once and for all.
Victory for Chelsea set up a final clash with Manchester City in Istanbul, although the final looks set to be switched to Wembley to allow supporters to attend without leaving the country and needing to face quarantine measures.
Should that move go through, Bridge, who played for both Chelsea and City during his career, believes it would make ideal sense.
He continued: "I think it is common sense to have the match at Wembley given the climate at the moment. I think it is better for fans travelling and with two English teams it’s a no-brainer. It’s an obvious choice to have the game played over here.
"As a player, I don’t think it matters where the match is played so I don’t think it will matter that Chelsea beat City at Wembley recently."
