Wavves say Donald Trump supporters, racists and homophobes shouldn't attend their shows

Before Wavves kicks off their summer tour, singer and guitarist Nathan Williams laid out the ground rules for the folks who is welcome to attend the band’s gigs. Those who are unwelcome include: Donald Trump supports, white folks who use racial slurs, homophobes, All Lives Matter supporters, defenders of murderous police officers and the like.

“It’s come to my attention as we gain more notoriety and our music/label begin to grow, there is an inevitable type of person or fan with whom you truly don’t share the same thoughts and opinions as,” Williams said. “This being said, some of that is healthy—I don’t want everyone at my shows to be a clone of each other. However, in light of the constant rape, murder, racism, homophobia and misogyny that goes on. seemingly every day I feel the need to make clear who I personally make music for, and who I don’t.”

Throughout the day, the official Twitter for the Southern California band responded to suggestive messages throughout the day.

"Nobody is perfect (including myself)," Williams added, "but I just know I don't want or need fans who don't get this. In fact, I'd rather have a room half-filled with good energy than one filled with hate."
