Waverley returns to Glasgow after passing below London's Tower Bridge one last time

The Waverley is returning to Glasgow after spending the past few weeks in London.

The paddle steamer arrived in the UK's capital on September 23 and is now on its way back to its home on the River Clyde.

But the iconic ship left London in style, passing below the famous Tower Bridge landmark one final time last night with three long blasts of her whistle.

The moment was captured in a stunning video by Waverley Excursions on Twitter, showcasing the moment the Waverley passed under the bridge by moonlight.

They tweeted: "Waverley has said farewell to London with three long blasts on her whistle as she begins her journey back home to Glasgow - only 830 nautical miles to paddle!"

Waverley Excursions updated at around 6.30pm today on the boat's travel progress: "Waverley has now reached Portland Port to take fuel and water on her journey from the Thames back to Glasgow. Having departed Gravesend shortly after midnight (10/10/22) Waverley made good progress overnight passing Dover around 6am and the Isle of Wight by 2pm."
