Wave of Light 2020: How to show your support during Baby Loss Awareness Week

People across Merseyside will be making a 'wave of light' next week by lighting candles for Baby Loss Awareness Week.

From October 9 to 15, Baby Loss Awareness Week will see thousands of bereaved parents remembering their lost babies, raising awareness about pregnancy and baby death in the UK.

The event culminates with simultaneous lighting of candles - a global Wave of Light - at 7pm on October 15.

People taking part are asked to light a candle and leave it burning for at least one hour to remember all babies who have died too soon and post a photo of their candle to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using #WaveOfLight.

Baby Loss Awareness Week is organised by the Baby Loss Awareness Alliance, led by stillbirth and neonatal death charity, Sands.

The alliance is a collaboration of more than 90 charities working together to break the taboo of infant loss and to drive tangible improvements in policy, bereavement care and support for anyone affected by the death of a baby.

Throughout the week, bereaved parents, and their families and friends, will unite with others across the world to commemorate the lives of babies who died during pregnancy, at or soon after birth and in infancy.
