Wave of attacks on Pakistani journalists

A study of the media in Pakistan reports that there were 48 violent incidents involving journalists in the first six months of the year. Two reporters were murdered and 66 journalists were attacked, kidnapped, tortured or harassed. Statistics compiled by Internews, an international body working to promote press freedom, reveals a disturbing trend of increasing incidents of violence against the media.
