Watford have not given up hope of striking a last-minute loan deal for Burnley defender Ben Gibson.
The Hornets have offered to take Gibson on loan for the rest of the season, with a view to making his move permanent in the summer.
The centre-back joined Burnley from Middlesbrough in the summer of 2018 for £15million, but he has struggled for action since the switch.
Watford have offered to take him on loan - and cover his £50,000-a-wages - but so far Burnley are refusing to play ball.
The Hornets have not given up hope of striking a deal, though, and Gibson could still find his way to Vicarage Road before tomorrow’s transfer deadline.
The 27-year-old’s former club, Middlesbrough, are also interested in signing him on loan, but unlike Watford they would struggle to cover the cost of his wages for the rest of the season.
