Watford vs Tottenham lineups: Team news as Christian Eriksen is dropped and Japhet Tanganga starts at left-back

Christian Eriksen has been dropped for Tottenham's clash at Watford, while Japhet Tanganga starts at left-back.

Eriksen drops out of the team after five consecutive starts as his agent continues talks with Inter Milan.

Jose Mourinho yesterday claimed the Italians are yet to bid for the Dane and aimed at dig at their boss, Antonio Conte, for discussing the 27-year-old's situation publicly.

Tanganga, 20, made his Premier League debut at Liverpool last weekend at right-back and kept his place for the mid-week FA Cup replay win over Middlesbrough.

A centre-half by trade, right-footed Tanganga is expected to play as a tucked-in left back, helping to form a back-three with Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sanchez when Spurs are in possession, allowing right-back Serge Aurier to bomb forward.

Mourinho makes three changes from the loss to Liverpool as Jan Vertonghen, Giovani Lo Celso and Erik Lamela come in. New loan signing Gedson Fernandes makes the bench three days after his arrival.

Watford: Foster, Mariappa, Dawson, Cathcart, Masina, Chalobah, Capoue, Sarr, Doucoure, Deulofeu, Deeney

Subs: Pussetto, Gomes, Gray, Quina, Holebas, Kabasele, Pereyra.

Tottenham: Gazzaniga, Aurier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Tanganga, Winks, Alli, Lamela, Lo Celso, Son, Lucas Moura.

Subs: Sanchez, Vorm, Dier, Sessegnon, Eriksen, Skipp, Fernandes.
