Watford vs Norwich City, Premier League preview: Prediction, kick-off time, TV, live stream, h2h, team news

Watford face a crucial clash in their battle to avoid relegation from the Premier League as Norwich City visit Vicarage Road tonight.

The Hornets remain involved in a desperate scrap for top-flight survival after claiming just one point from their first four post-restart fixtures, suffering successive defeats at the hands of Burnley, Southampton and Chelsea.

Nigel Pearson's men have scored a total of just two goals since the league's return and currently hover just a point above the relegation zone in 17th place.

With their direct rivals not in action until later in the week, Tuesday's meeting with a rock-bottom and toothless Norwich side that lie seven points adrift of safety with only five matches remaining this term and who manager Daniel Farke admits blew their "last chance" to mount a late escape bid in a narrow home defeat by Brighton on Saturday - their fifth in a row - is simply must-win.

Date, time and venue

Watford vs Norwich is scheduled for a 6pm BST kick-off on Tuesday, July 7, 2020.

The match will be held behind closed doors at Vicarage Road with no fans present due to government guidelines regarding coronavirus.

How to watch

TV channel: Watford vs Norwich will be shown live on Sky Sports' Premier League and Arena channels as well as Sky One, and is available via Now TV with a day pass for £9.99, or a three-month pass on offer for £25.

The game is also being broadcast free-to-air via Pick (Freeview channel 11).

Live stream: Sky Sports subscribers can stream the match online via SkyGo and the SkyGo app, with a mobile month pass available for £5.99.

Team news

Watford's long-term absentees Gerard Deulofeu, Daryl Janmaat (both knee) and Isaac Success (Achilles) remain sidelined, while Norwich are missing key midfielder Todd Cantwell due to a hamstring issue suffered against Brighton.

Alex Tettey (knee) and Kenny McLean (ankle) are also doubtful and Moritz Leitner, Sam Byram, Christoph Zimmermann and Grant Hanley are all still out.

Prediction: Watford 1-0 Norwich

Anything other than a victory from this fixture will be a huge disappointment for Watford as they look to avoid a first return to the Championship since 2015.

Both sides are woefully short on both wins and goals, so this is likely to be something of a gritty spectacle short on quality and decided by the odd strike.

The Hornets to secure a narrow triumph to further heap the pressure on the likes of Aston Villa and Bournemouth.

Head to head (h2h) history and results

These two sides have met just three times in the top-flight in the Premier League era, with Watford claiming two wins - including a first victory of a difficult campaign at Carrow Road in November.

Deulofeu and Andre Gray netted in a 2-0 win for a team then managed by Quique Sanchez Flores, while Christian Kabasele was sent off late on.

Norwich's sole Premier League win over Watford came in May 2016, when they were relegated back to the second tier despite a thumping 4-2 success on the day.
