Watford transfer stance and Liverpool asking price confirmed for ex-Bolton Wanderers defender

Watford are interested in signing former Bolton Wanderers defender Nat Phillips with Liverpool reportedly wanted £12m for his services.

The 24-year-old Bolton-born defender came through the youth ranks at Wanderers but left in the summer of 2016 having not made a first team appearance for the club.

He later joined the Anfield club's youth set up and began to train with the first team in 2018.

He burst onto the scene with the Liverpool first team in earnest last season, making 20 appearances for Jurgen Klopp's side last season amid a central defensive injury crisis.

But this season, Phillips has made just four appearances for the Reds, one of which came against Wanderers in the Papa John's Trophy group stage where he captained Liverpool to a 4-1 loss.

Speculation has surrounded his future with suggestions he is likely to head out of the exit door in January, despite agreeing a four-year deal at Anfield last summer.

West Ham United have been credited with among the interested parties for Phillips, who is the son of ex-Bolton defender Jimmy Phillips.

And now, Football Insider reports that Claudio Ranieri's Watford are interested in Phillips' services as they aim to avoid relegation to the Championship ans dtengthen their rearguard.

Jurgen Klopp's side are said to be willing to listen to offers for Phillips.
