Watford striker ready for Premier League 'relief' amid Nottingham Forest transfer link

Philip Zinckernagel insists he is looking forward to gracing the Premier League with Watford amid speculation linking him with a move to Nottingham Forest.

Adding to his attacking options is a priority for Reds manager Chris Hughton before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

Zinckernagel, who only joined Watford midway through last season, is on Forest’s radar and has reportedly been told he can leave Hornets if they sign another attacker.

In the meantime, the 26-year-old Dane has been picking up minutes in pre-season and scored against Arsenal in a 4-1 defeat this week – a game which saw him play in midfield rather than up front.

“It’s been nice, it’s been tough,” Zinckernagel told the Watford website.

“We’ve had double sessions almost every day. I think we've been training really hard.

“Two weeks now until the Premier League is a relief, you can look forward and start thinking about the Premier League and playing real games again.”

Watford begin their return to the Premier League when they host Aston Villa on August 14.

Zinckernagel added: “With the supporters in the stands there’s a big, big difference. To have them there even for friendly matches is so much better, and you start feeling this.

“Soon we’ll be playing for points again in the Premier League. I’m looking forward to it.”
