Watford have completed the signing of former Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck on a three-year contract.

The 28-year-old has been a free agent since leaving the Gunners when his contract expired at the end of last season.

That ended a five-year spell at Arsenal, who he joined from boyhood club Manchester United on deadline day in September 2014.

The England international has not played a competitive game since suffering a serious ankle injury in the Europa League group stage clash with Sporting Lisbon in November 2018 but is fit again.

He was part of the England squad that reached the semi-finals of the World Cup in Russia last summer, and has scored 16 goals in 42 appearances at international level.
