Watford send Arsenal Invincibles message following shock win over Liverpool

Arsenal's Invincibles record remains intact for yet another season.

The Gunners managed the incredible feat of going an entire Premier League season without losing a game in 2003/04.

That record was under threat following a scarcely believable year for Liverpool this season, with 26 wins and one draw from 27 games.

But Arsenal's record will stand for at least another year after Liverpool came unstuck against Watford.

Arteta believes Aubameyang doesn't need titles to be considered world-class

Jurgen Klopp's side made the trip to Vicarage Road for the Saturday evening fixture following some patchy performances, with narrow wins against relegation candidates Norwich and West Ham coming either side of a Champions League defeat against Atletico Madrid in their last three games.

And Nigel Pearson's side finally got the better of Liverpool, with two goals from Ismaila Sarr and a third from captain Troy Deeney all coming in the second half.

The Hornets came into the match in 19th place in the league table, and finished it in 17th, level with West Ham on points in 16th following the unlikeliest of wins.

Arsenal fans and the club itself reacted quickly with message of relief that their record has stood the test of time for another season.

And Watford got in touch with the Gunners to send a message of their own.

Arsenal are back in action on Monday night in the FA Cup with a trip to face Portsmouth at Fratton Park.

Mikel Arteta's side face a race to qualify for European football next season, and are currently four points behind fifth-place Manchester United.

A top five finish this season would currently secure a Champions League place following Manchester City's two-year ban from European football, though they are appealing the ruling to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
