Watford's decision to sack Javi Gracia labelled a "disgrace" that "can't be justified"

Watford's decision to sack Javi Gracia has been labelled a "disgrace" that "can't be justified" by Chris Sutton.

The Hornets announced on Saturday that Gracia had been relieved of his duties with former boss Quique Sanchez Flores replacing him at the helm.

Watford sit rock bottom of the table having lost three of their opening four matches in the Premier League.

Former Blackburn striker Sutton took to Twitter shortly after Watford's announcement to slam the decision and label it a "disgrace".

"Watford sacking of Javi Gracia is a disgrace," tweeted Sutton. "This can't be justified. Quique Sanchez Flores back in but he was sacked by Watford not so long back? Football is bonkers."

Watford announced Gracia's sacking in a statement on Saturday.

It read: "Watford Football Club confirms the departure of Head Coach Javi Gracia.

"Chairman and CEO Scott Duxbury said: 'Javi has represented Watford with great dignity and will always be deserving of our fullest respect for his achievements.'

"Javi Gracia's staff will also be leaving the club, ahead of the imminent appointment of a new coaching team.

"Everyone at the Hornets wishes Javi and his staff all the very best for the future, and they will always be welcome visitors in the future at Vicarage Road."
