Watford will become the third Premier League club to agree wage deferrals with their squad this week.
Hornets captain Troy Deeney has been leading talks for more than a month with the squad set to agree on a deferral of at least 30 per cent.
Relations between the players and club, as well as within the squad, have been soured somewhat after one player used the situation to raise the issue of an unpaid bonus.
Players had expected to share a bonus pot of £5million having reached the FA Cup Final and finished 11th in the Premier League last season, though - with the club stating that the bonus is discretionary - £2.2m was paid out.
Earlier this month, Southampton became the first Premier League club to agree wage deferrals with players, with the Saints' first-team squad, as well as manager Ralph Hasenhuttl, his coaching staff and the board of directors, agreeing to defer part of their salaries for April, May and June.
West Ham also announced player wage deferrals earlier in April.
