Watford need points now or we’re at risk, says Sebastian Prodl

Sebastian Prodl has warned his Watford team-mates they cannot waste any more time as their search for a first Premier League win goes on.

The Hornets were held to a 0-0 draw by Sheffield United on Saturday, with Andre Gray, Craig Dawson and Danny Welbeck all missing good chances to win the game.

Watford are bottom of the table after eight matches and 32-year-old Austria defender Prodl said: “We need to step forward, we need to get positive results in and we can’t waste any more time.

“We want to maintain our status as a Premier League club and the sooner we face reality, the better it is to get out and the easier it will become to get out [of the relegation zone]. We face another tough opponent away next (Tottenham) — that’s the Premier League. It doesn’t matter if it is Sheffield or Tottenham, we need points.”

Prodl is hoping to play a key role in Watford’s bid for survival, following his first League appearance in a year on Saturday, and he said afterwards he was frozen out by former boss Javi Gracia.

“I was invisible for a couple of months, but also I had a big struggle with my knee surgery,” he added. “I think one side was that process of coming back after the injury and the other was, of course, having a fall-out with the former manager. But that is history now.”
