Watford handed boost ahead of Tottenham Hotspur clash

Watford have been handed a boost ahead of their Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

Like Spurs, the Hornets were meant to be in FA Cup replay action on Tuesday evening, as they faced an away trip to League One side Tranmere Rovers.

The replay came about after Nigel Pearson's side were pegged back after taking a  first-half 3-0 lead, with the game eventually ending in a 3-3 draw.

Watford were due to travel up to Tranmere for the replay tonight (Tuesday), the same day that Spurs take on Middlesbrough. However, adverse weather conditions have caused the match at Prenton Park to be postponed.

The game has since been re-arranged to take place on Thursday 23rd January at 7.45pm.

That now means that Watford have a free week in order to prepare for the visit of Tottenham on Saturday.

Following such a busy Christmas schedule, a few extra days could serve as a major boost to Pearson and his men as they look to continue their fight against relegation from the Premier League.

The Hornets have been in impressive form since the arrival of the former Leicester City manager, winning four of their last five league games, including recording a 3-0 victory over relegation rivals Bournemouth last weekend.

Tottenham meanwhile host Middlesbrough in their FA Cup replay on Tuesday night, before attention can turn to the Watford encounter.
