Watford fans to toast Graham Taylor before Burnley match on anniversary of club legend’s death

Watford supporters will be given free drinks at Saturday’s match with Burnley to honour the anniversary of the death of club legend Graham Taylor.

Taylor, who died on January 12, 2017, is regarded as the Hornets’ greatest manager after leading them from the then fourth division to the top flight while in charge from 1977 to 1987.

“Saturday’s home fixture provides our chance to remember Graham as we mark two years since his passing — so we’re delighted to offer our supporters a complimentary drink in order to toast the many special memories he created for Watford FC and the local community,” said Watford chairman Scott Duxbury.

Fans have been advised to arrive at Vicarage Road earlier than usual and will be given a drinks voucher when they enter. The club are also planning a scarf display before kick-off.

Meanwhile, Watford midfielder Dion Pereira is close to joining MLS side Atlanta United. The 19-year-old, who signed professional terms at the club in 2017, is waiting for a visa to be approved for his move to the US.
