Watford duo Gerard Deulofeu and Roberto Pereyra expected to be fit for Brighton season opener

Watford are confident Gerard Deulofeu and Roberto Pereyra will be fit for Saturday’s Premier League opener against Brighton.

Deulofeu has been struggling in pre-season with a muscular problem, while Pereyra arrived back late this summer after competing in the Copa America for Argentina.

The pair, however, are expected to be fit for Saturday’s match at Vicarage Road against Brighton.

It is hoped Deulofeu, who has not played since a friendly against Bayer Leverkusen on July 20, will return to full training on Tuesday.

Pereyra, meanwhile, is being slowly integrated back into the squad after returning and his workload will be increased this week.

Watford rounded off their pre-season preparations at the weekend with a 2-1 win over Real Sociedad at Vicarage Road.

Andre Gray, as he has throughout pre-season, impressed and the striker scored both of the Hornets’ goals to cancel out Mikel Oyarzabal’s opener.
