Watford boss comments on Andre Gray speculation amid Forest links

Andre Gray is a key part of Watford’s plans, according to boss Nigel Pearson, and is reluctant to let him leave Vicarage Road.

Gray was linked with a move to Nottingham Forest on Thursday morning, becoming the last name added to the Reds’ apparent wish-list.

The 28-year-old former Burnley striker has struggled to pin down a regular place with the Hornets this term scoring just twice, with the Standard claiming a loan move to the City Ground could be in the offing, with Leeds also linked.

Despite those reported links to his hometown club, Pearson reiterated his desire to see Gray remain in Hertfordshire.

“I spoke with Andre and he is very much a part of what we are trying to do here," said the Hornets' boss.

“I don’t have any message for anybody but us. It is more for our own players and that is I am pretty happy with what we already have.

“I think I have already said over the last week or so that if we add to the squad it will be to strengthen it.

“The players have responded very well over the last few weeks. I am really delighted with how they’ve approached games and training."
