Watford boss Claudio Ranieri not surprised by excellent Emmanuel Dennis form ahead of Man City test

Watford boss Claudio Ranieri says he isn’t surprised by Emmanuel Dennis’ sparkling form so far this season.

The Nigerian forward has been a star performer for the Hornets and goes into Saturday’s match against Manchester City having scored four goals in his last five games.

Dennis joined Watford from Club Brugge for a fee of around £3million in the summer, having previously caught the eye by scoring twice away against Real Madrid in 2019.

Ranieri remembers that performance and it is why he isn’t shocked that the 24-year-old is now impressing in the Premier League.

“I’m not surprised because he is a very good player,” said Ranieri.

“He scored twice at the Bernabeu! Anyone who scores two at the Bernabeu is not a normal man.

“He has speed, intelligence, he is generous, and I like how he plays. He has to improve because he is young, but I have a very good relationship with him, and all of my players.”
