Watford and Brighton are competing for the signature of Feyenoord’s Elvis Manu and have both had offers of €2m (£1.5m) accepted by the Dutch club.
Manu, who has represented Holland at several youth levels, is also wanted by the Portuguese side Sporting and Germany’s Bayer Leverkusen but it is understood he prefers a move to England.
Feyenoord are looking to raise funds having signed Dirk Kuyt and the former Southampton loanee Eljero Elia among several arrivals this summer. Manu’s agent Carlos Barros will fly to England this week to negotiate.
He has attracted interest after scoring seven goals from 22 Eredivisie appearances last season from a left-wing position. The 22-year-old is also capable of playing as an out-and-out striker.
Born in Dordrecht to Ghanaian parents, Manu has been courted by the Ghana coach Avram Grant in the past but has yet to be called up.
