Waterloo Station fire: Train services suspended after blaze under railway arches

All trains in and out of London Waterloo station have been stopped after a fire was reported at a nearby property.

South West Trains said the disruption is likely to continue until at least 9pm as all lines are blocked following reports of the blaze.

A spokesperson said fire services had arrived but that trains coming to and from the station face cancellations, revisions and delays of up to one hour.

South West has advised passengers can use tickets on other services.

In a statement posted online, National Rail said: "A fire on a property near the railway at London Waterloo is causing delays of up to 45 minutes to journeys to and from Waterloo. This is expected to continue until 21:00.

"Some services will be part cancelled, starting/ terminating at Woking/ Surbiton, not calling at London Waterloo. "

In a tweet, the London Fire Brigade said the blaze had broken out under the railway arches on Carlisle Lane. They added that it has been brought under controlling by attending fire officers.
