Train services in and out of Waterloo station are severely delayed after a person was killed by a train in Surrey.

Police and paramedics rushed to Woking station at around 1.57pm after receiving reports of a casualty on the tracks.

The person was pronounced dead at the scene, a British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said.

“Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family,” he added.

The incident on Monday is not being treated as suspicious.

Train lines between Surrey and Waterloo have been blocked after the incident and South Western Rail (SWR) has warned the delays will continue until around 8pm.

Pictures taken in Waterloo show huge crowds of people waiting inside and outside the station as passengers continue to face delays and cancellations.

SWR said: “Due to emergency services dealing with an incident between Farnborough Main and Weybridge some lines are blocked. Disruption is expected until 8pm.

“Trains running to and from these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised.”

National Rail has said that tickets are being accepted on alternate services.
